Halloween is my favourite time of year…you can be whomever you want, dress however you want, act however you want - with certain limitations of course. But it really does allow you to bring out your inner-demon-child ;)
I host a Halloween party every year. This was my 9th one and counting. Prepping for this year's was a bit hectic, but so worth it for the end result. The theme was GLOW IN THE DARK SKELETONS AND GHOSTS.
I tried to incorporate as many skeletons and ghosts as I could, and absolutely anything that would glow in the dark. I found neon slinkies and thought they would be awesome to hang from the ceiling..
It was starting to get a bit ridiculous, all the things I would come across in stores that I hoped would glow under black light. Every day I would come home with new items and Matt and I would run in excitement to plug in a black light to test if the items would glow.
From glow sticks, to glow in the dark stickers to neon wool/ string to pieces of white bed sheets... I tried to be as resourceful as possible. Most of these images are the set up of the party before guests arrived. I wanted to capture the mood before our place was filled with bodies.
Below are some shots of the hallway.
Here are some more up-close and personal shots...
We even dressed up our clock (Matt's idea) I thought it was brilliant and very effective!
I truly believe it's the small details that really make the decor of a themed party. If I had more time (and money) I would have done even more!! Next you'll see a few more shots that Matt took just as our friends started to arrive.
Here is Matt doing his thing!
If you are wondering, I got the quote online (I wanted something that had 'glow in the dark' in the saying) and I got the neon construction paper from Dollarama.
I must say I have the best, most creative people in my life. Check out (some of) their costumes!! P.S. The witch is my girl Ashley and I did her makeup..Enjoy!

Matt's good friend Evons soaked gummy bears and gummy worms in vodka for 7 days. They were deliciously alcoholic and SO amusing to watch people try and pick them up; as they were so slimy.
Thanks Evons! Everyone loved them!!
Every year I do prizes. I go around with ballots and all the guests vote. I think this is the most fair way to decide who wins and it also gets everyone involved. Some of my friends are quite serious about winning and will go all out on their costume but it can quickly become very political, where they start campaigning themselves. It is hysterical to watch! With that being said here are our winners of 2014.
For Best Female Costume: Sugar skull
For Best Male Costume: Horse Man
For Best Overall Costume: Skeleton and his Package
Congratulations, enjoy your prizes!
Here is a close of my makeup. This was closer to 3am so please ignore the state of the application.
Here is a shot with my eyes closed. The lashes were a sweet find! At only $4 I couldn't go wrong. BUT they were so heavy!!! Every time someone tried to take a photo of my makeup they would yell "OPEN YOU EYES!!" My eyelids were sore the next day from wearing them.
Aside from my foundation, mascara and eye liner, below are the products I used to achieve my glow in the dark look.
